Yogurt Chicken Recipe

It's time again, time for the winter holidays!! Oh Yeah! The winter holidays the time we all like to eat really good food the kind of foods we liked to call, soul food. Yep that food that nourishes the body in ways that we don't want it to be nourished all year round, but it make you feel so good, and sometimes so sleepy. In the winter nothing is better than eating a whole lot of hearty foods, then curling up in a nice warm blanket and going to sleep. Today for me that heartwarming dish was Yogurt Chicken with Yogurt Flatbread, and Basmati rice. I was born and raised a Jasmine girl but there is something about basmati rice that goes will with yogurt chicken.To make this dish you will need the following.

TBS= Tablespoon
tsp= Teaspoon

2TBS cooking oil (Doesn’t matter what kind)
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 Medium diced onion
1 tsp garlic ginger paste or 1tsp garlic powder 1tsp ginger powder or 3 or 5 garlic gloves minced 1tsp ginger minced (so many different ways to do this you can pick your favorite or use what you have laying around in the kitchen.)
1/4tsp Turmeric powered
1tsp Honey
2TBS Plain Whole Milk Greek Yogurt (room temperature)
1 small chili pepper
Dash of Gram Masala (if you’re not good with dashes to try 1/8 tsp and ¼ if you really like Gram Masala but I don’t recommend ¼ most people think it is too strong.)
Salt to taste
2 pounds Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs (cut into cubes)
2 medium skinned tomatoes
1/2 cup of water

Step 1

 In a medium heated medium size soup pot add 2TBS cooking oil heat oil and then add 1tsp Cumin Seeds cook them until the turn golden brown.
Then add the diced Onions. Cook until the onions start to brown
add the chili, and the tomatoes put a small pinch of garlic powder, salt, and black pepper heat adds a dash of water, mix and repeat about three times every time the water evaporates.

Step 2

Pour the rest of the water in the pot if you run out of water put ½ cup of water into the pot and add the rest of the spices and the chicken and put the lid on the pot. Make sure that there is enough water to cover the chicken but make sure you can still see the chicken sticking out. Bring to a boil

Step 3

Mix the yogurt and honey in a bowl add a dash of warm water if you think the yogurt is too cold to keep it from turning to cheese when added to the boiling chicken.

Step 4

Add the yogurt to the boiling water and slowly work it in and then mix completely into the pot. Boil until chicken is soft and easy to chew, and the liquid has boiled down to the point where it is sticking to the chicken or until you can see almost all of the chicken sticking out of the sauce. Salt to taste and enjoy :)

Tadaaaa

You now have amazing Yogurt chicken.

Also, don't worry about making your own Garam Masala McCormick makes it and sells it in all major stores. This wasn't an ad plug I was just really surprised to see it in the store and happy to not have to buy everything needed to make it :).
